At one point during the Dosember 2025 Game Jam, I tried doing something similar in textmode (I was going to call it SkiAscii) but unfortunately it proved to slow/jerky and I shelved it.

Nice job!

Last time I played SkiFree was probably over 30 years ago, so my memory might be hazy, but this feels like an excellent port. Impressive work. Somehow I remembered there being sound and music, but I guess that wasn't the case actually.

It wasn't originally released with sound but recently it was discovered that the win32 version supported sound. https://foone.wordpress.com/2017/06/20/uncovering-the-sounds-of-skifree/
I'm currently working on support for the sound effects. Hopefully I'll release an update soon. I also want to add Joystick support. :)

I can't even count the amount of times I've had to convince someone that Skifree isn't for DOS.

I'm absolutely delighted to finally lose that argument.

Congratulations on this release, such a neat project! You've single-handedly made Windows entirely redundant.

DID THE TREES WALK IN THE WINDOWS VERSION? I feel like I'm in the Berenstein Universe.

I don't think they did.(I just fired up the win3.11 version to check) I based this port off the Win32 version from Chris Pirih's website. https://ski.ihoc.net/ He must of added them for that version.
